Vintage Shafford Black Cat Teapot, Made in Japan c.1950s

Fantastic vintage Shafford black tea pot with red bow ties. Made of red ware, by Shafford Japan ceramics c. 1951. 

The black glaze is glossy- it was hard to take pictures of without reflections.

It’s hand painted with vibrant green eyes, white wispy whiskers and red ears and bows. 

There is some light wear but nothing inconsistent with its age. 

Acquired from a lovely Texas estate. 

Sourcing the South and the great state of Texas for vintage and antique estate decor is my favorite thing to do...shopping estate sales, auctions, and charity thrift stores to carefully curate a collection of fantastic finds that have and will stand the test of time.

It measures 6.75” tall x 7.5”  wide.
